Romgaz looks for a new general manager

Romgaz, the largest producer and the main natural gas supplier in Romania, started the recruitment process for a new general manager. The announcement was published, the selection for the post of General Manager being carried out in accordance with GEO no. 109/2011, modified and approved by Law no. 111/2016 on Corporate Governance of Public Enterprises.

In the selection process, the competencies of the candidates, respectively those specific to the sector, as well as those of strategic importance will be assessed, namely: strategic thinking and forecasting, finance and accounting, risk and human resources management, legislation. Candidates must also have corporate governance skills (public enterprise governance, performance monitoring), social and personal skills (decision-making, interpersonal relationships, conflict management) and English knowledge, according to investenergy.ro.

For a month, Romgaz has a Board of Directors for the next four years. The new directors, seven in number, were appointed by the General Meeting of Shareholders (AGA), who were appointed according to GEO 109/2011, by applying the cumulative vote.

The winners of four years in Romgaz’s leadership are: Liviu Nistoran – who will probably preserve the position of CA president, Adrian Volintiru – interim manager of Romgaz, Ramona Ungur – head of the Romanian Commercial Bank’s SME Restructuring Department, also member and CA Electrica and Oil Terminal, Remus Grigorescu – associate professor of “Constantin Brâncoveanu” University in Ramnicu Valcea, former prefect of Valcea County, Romeo Ciobanu – professor at Iasi Technical University, Aristotle Jude – former Secretary of State for Energy and Peter Jensen , proposed by the EBRD.

The mission of the Board of Directors is to appoint as soon as possible the general manager of Romgaz, to develop and approve the management plan, after which the shareholders convened in the AGM will approve the financial and non-financial performance indicators.

Since mid-June, Romgaz has been headed by a general manager. Adrian Volintiru replaces Corin Cindrea, appointed provisional director general in December 2017. Volintiru’s mandate is a provisional one, of just four months, until the selection procedure of the new general manager is completed.
