Romgaz requests for a precautionary seizure of some assets at Electrocentrale București (ELCEN) amid the debt of 330 million lei, which the largest producer of thermal energy in the country has towards the company from Mediaș. The ELCEN officials say they have not been informed of this request and did not know upon which assets Romgaz requests the seizure.
In the winter period, ELCEN and Romgaz have extended the contract of gas supply on a monthly basis, since the relations between the two companies are dominated by discussions regarding conventions staging, lawsuits, mortgages upon production assets and land.
The ELCEN representatives stress out that the company pays its gas in advance, and in the amounts listed on each invoice, 20% are outstanding debts. However, a clear agreement regarding the debt rescheduling was not completed.
Recently, the administrators of Romgaz have requested the negotiation by the gas producer for increasing the share of outstanding debt amounts allocated in amounts paid in advance, according to a release forwarded by the gas company to the Bucharest Stock Exchange at the end of March.
At that time, the administrators also requested the “celerity of the actions of litigious nature against Electrocentrale București S.A., for the registered debt”.
