Romgaz’s executive management states that it “shows zero tolerance for any act of corruption and will support the bodies empowered to conduct investigations” in a new criminal corruption case opened by DNA.

”Romgaz S.A. relies on transparency and fairness and takes all necessary actions to avoid any situations that may create vulnerabilities with an impact on the current activity and the company’s image,” say the company’s officials, according to a press release sent to energynomics.ro.

A businessman was detained on Tuesday by the DNA prosecutors under the accusation that he promised a director from Romgaz the amount of 200,000 euros, so that the latter could approve the purchase by the state company of a land from a private company.

According to some judicial sources, the director of Romgaz denounced the businessman to DNA, the latter being caught red-handed with part of the money, according to Agerpres.

DNA announced in a press release that the anti-corruption prosecutors have ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings and the detention for 24 hours, starting Tuesday, of a defendant, a natural person without special quality, under the aspect of committing the crime of bribery.
