On Wednesday will be put into commission the new compression station and natural gas drying, related to the storage facility in Sărmăşel (Mureş County).

The project represents an investment of 237.4 million lei (about 53.6 million euro), and the works were made by Condmag Brasov and Inspet Ploiesti. Works on this station started in July 2013 and Condmag performed 58.2% of the project.

Condmag Brasov is insolvent since the summer of 2015, year the company ended with a loss of 25 million lei (almost equal to the annual turnover) and over 260 employees. The staff was reduced by two thirds from 2010 (974 employees) and the last four years were all in the red, with a cumulated loss of over 83 million lei (18 million euros).

For Inspet Ploiesti, things are quite different: although it lost about 40% of employees, the company kept on profit each year from 2010 to 2015, and reported a total net profit of over 78 million lei (17 million euros).

New investments from Romgaz

In an interview with HotNews.ro, Victor Grigorescu, the Minister of Energy announced that among Romgaz’s future investments, a project to modernize the Iernut power plant is included.

“Romgaz will proceed with the modernization of its production capacity. It is an investment of several hundred million euros”, said Grigorescu, who added that the project will be auctioned: “The execution will be put up for public auction, through an entrustment of works agreement for the implementation of the upgrading works for the plant”.

“State-owned companies, at least those from the energy field, are encouraged to invest, we had extensive discussions with the leadership of each energy company this year in connection with their investment projects. And you will see this in the next period, “said Grigorescu.
