Romgaz plans to invest towards diversifying the company, one of the main objectives being a methanol plant of about 2-300 million euro, says the company’s general manager, Adrian Volintiru.
He told energynomics.ro that the new government has not yet asked the company for additional dividends. “In addition, the new minister supports our investment policy,” he said.
The methanol plant would have a capacity of 500,000 tons per year, being able to feed a more complex palette of customers compared to other petrochemical plants. At present, the company has commissioned a market survey to the consulting firm Horvath & Partners, in order to highlight the opportunities in this segment.
In addition, Romgaz wants to purchase approved wind projects of 40-60 MW, but the actual construction will take place with the latest technologies, cheaper and more efficient than the existing parks in Romania.
“We want to use the newest and best turbines, as the price has dropped. We hope to start the first project next year.”
