Romgaz will participate in the second stage of the market test on the completion of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Alexandroupoli, Greece, said Adrian Volintiru, the company’s general manager.
“Of course, 100% we will participate,” said Volintiru, quoted by Agerpres.
Gastrade, a Greek utility company and developer of the LNG terminal Alexandroupoli, launched on January 10, 2020 the second stage of the market test on the project’s completion, which, for Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and other markets in south-east Europe, will supply natural gas through the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector, under construction and the other existing or future pipelines in the region.
This is a mandatory step for capacity bookings in this project.
According to a statement from the company, the project aims to offer a system of natural gas supply to the markets in south-east Europe, offering the region the security of a constant supply, the diversification of routes and sources of natural gas, the flexibility of prices and increased competition. This project will meet the growing demand for gas in the region in the medium and long term, providing regional access to LNG, supporting access and entering the natural gas market.
