The leu depreciated on Tuesday with 0.206 subunits (0.43%) against the euro, the European currency reaching a new historical high, and the benchmark rate of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) was set at 4.8448 lei/euro.

The NBR quoted euro on Monday at 4.8242 lei.

On the interbank market, the national currency was traded between 4.8334 and 4.8477 lei for an euro, according to Agerpres.

Also, the leu lost ground in front of the US dollar, which reached 4.3880 lei, up 0.678 subunits (1.57%), against the exchange rate of Monday, respectively of 4.3202 lei/ dollar.

The national currency depreciated against the Swiss franc, with 0.186 subunits (+ 0.4%). Thus, the quotation of the franc reached 4.5885 lei, compared with 4.5699 lei/ CHF on Monday.
