The Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA) continues the tradition this year and together with Vestas Romania organized on June 27 the 7th edition of Wind Open Day, already an emblematic event, dedicated to the promotion of wind energy and familiarizing the general public with the new realities and dynamic, which have become part of the continuous process towards decarbonisation. The event aims to raise awareness of renewable energy sources, showcase innovative technologies and spotlight RWEA members’ contribution to sustainable energy solutions.

This year the visit took place at the Vestas headquarters in Mihail Kogălniceanu, where the participants – among students, young energy engineers and volunteers from the Association of Energy Engineers and, at the same time, together with RWEA partners and media representatives – had the opportunity to pass through a complete experience with interactive workshops and activities, hands-on demonstrations of cutting-edge wind energy technology and interactive question-and-answer sessions with industry experts.

“Vestas Romania is proud to be the largest provider of wind maintenance services in the country.

We currently have approximately 1.4 GW of turbines in service in Romania and we look forward to starting the execution of our new Vifor project. This project, with a capacity of 192 MW and V162 turbines, is located near Buzaului. We are in continuous development, expanding our fleet with the new EnVentus platform and consolidating our local resources. We have four active service centers in Mihail Kogălniceanu, Medgidia, Tulcea and Galați. In the following month, we will open a new center in the Bârlad area and, with the inauguration of the Vifor project, we will also have a regional center in the Buzău area.

At Mihail Kogălniceanu we have a central warehouse of parts and components that serves our fleet in Eastern Europe. Our local team, in addition to corrective and preventive maintenance work, is also qualified for major component replacement and blade repairs, covering with local teams the full range of necessary services included in the maintenance contracts. Also, we have local departments that provide qualified technical support for Romania and Eastern Europe”, Vestas officials said.

Starting from October 2023, the Vestas Training Center in Mihail Kogălniceanu was taken over and included in the Vestas S&C Academy NCE.
