Sales of new green cars almost doubled (+95.5%) in January 2022, compared to the same period last year, to 1,656 units, according to data from the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).

According to the market analysis, the share of new electric and full hybrid cars in the total local new car sales market reached, in the reference period, 17.9% from 14.3% in January 2021.
Most new purchases were recorded in the category of full hybrid cars, respectively 742 units, increasing by 27.1%, followed by full electric (570 units, + 245.5%) and plug-in hybrid (344 units, + 251%)

APIA statistics show that, in the top of the 100% electric cars sales leads, in the first month of this year, Dacia (with the Spring model) – with 148 units. In the following places were ranked: Volkswagen – with 89 units, Tesla (75), Hyundai (51), BMW (29), Renault (25), Mercedes-Benz (24), Peugeot (20), Skoda (16) and Fiat (16).

At the same time, most of the full hybrid cars sold in January in Romania were sold by: Toyota – with 476 units, Hyundai (97), Renault (57), Ford (46), Honda (41), Lexus (20), Suzuki (4) and Subaru (1).

Mercedes-Benz was also in first place in the top sales of plug-in hybrid cars, with 61 units sold, followed by Volvo (44 units), Ford and Hyundai (43 units each), Skoda (36), BMW (33), Volkswagen (23), Renault (16), Audi and Mitsubishi (11 units each).
