Farmer Vasile Lungu, from Iasi, has several investments underway on the farms under the name Domeniile Lungu. One of them concerns the construction of a roof-mounted photovoltaic panel system with a capacity of 390 kW. 90% of the investment comes from government funding.
“In the fall-winter period we have quite high consumption for the processing stations, for the winemaking station. Probably a smaller amount will be given to the system in the summer, but it will still be used by us for the pumping stations for irrigation”, explains the farmer why he decided to submit the project to obtain financing for the photovoltaic system. Even if he does not have precise calculations, which he says he will do when the project becomes eligible and bankable, he has certain expectations about the benefits it will bring. The monthly electricity bill is now 55-60,000 lei. He hopes that in the summer months he will not have to pay any more, and in the fall and winter he will reduce it to 10-15%.
Lungu farms total 2,000 hectares. 85% of the area is irrigated and the farmer plans to expand irrigation systems to reach 95%.
