Schneider Electric implements digital twin projects in Romania every day in factories whose construction is about to start, and because there is a very good internet infrastructure at the local level, any technological implementation is carried out at a fast pace, said Lucian Enaru, CEO of Schneider Electric, at the 9th edition of the Energy Strategy Summit, an event organized by Energynomics.

“We implement digital twin solutions daily in Romania. There are new factories that are being built in Romania. Before starting and implementing a project, it is simulated from all points of view – the site, the production flow, the elements that go into construction – and then it is analyzed virtually and the production and supply flow are simulated. Only after that the equipment is ordered and production begins,” said Enaru.

He added that Romania has a great advantage in that it has a highly developed communications infrastructure, and from this point of view any technological implementation that involves digitization or software or cloud solutions is much easier. Also, the recent appearance of data centers on a local level is proof that the level of data transfer and use is extremely high.

The available data resources will, in the next step of digitization, have to be used in an intelligent way through the cloud, which also entails cyber security risks.

“All this data offers enormous possibilities for development, automation and efficiency, but also opportunities for savings, so as not to put pressure on the production chain. We should be more ambitious to implement all the solutions that exist worldwide, to want more and faster. We are not inferior. We have a small area to improve, namely, we have to do things faster,” Enaru said.
