Schneider Electric launched in Romania an integrated software platform intended for the natural gas transport and distribution sector along the entire value chain, from production and storage, to the final consumer. The solution, called AGMS, can also be adapted for the transport of hydrogen through pipes, said Cătălin Mărmureanu, Sales Director for Romania and the Republic of Moldova at Schneider Electric, at the conference “O&G – answers for today, answers for tomorrow”, organized by Energynomics.

“Schneider Electric celebrates 25 years in Romania and I am proud that I have spent the last 15 with this company. This year, we are launching in Romania, AGMS, a solution dedicated to gas transport and distribution, which was developed on the basis of another application, ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System), which Schneider introduced some time ago in the electricity distribution area”, stated Mărmureanu.

Schneider implemented the new AGMS system in the Netherlands, at the gas company Gasunie. Following the use of this software, Gasunie recorded substantial benefits especially in the operating area in the first phase, and later also on the energy efficiency side.

“The new solution developed by Schneider prepares the gas pipeline network for the transport of hydrogen, and I see that several projects have already started. The solution is multi-fluid and can be adapted to gas and hydrogen transported through gas pipes”, said Mărmureanu.

AMDS is interconnected with other systems and sites, such as those for weather forecasts. Thus, for example, it can predict that a storm will occur in a certain area.

Consequently, the operator is informed to send an intervention team to that area, and the AMDS system also suggests what equipment and materials will be needed. At the same time, the application isolates the area affected by the storm, and energy consumers are informed by SMS about the time to fix the fault. ADMS is already used in Romania.

“O&G – answers for today, answers for tomorrow” conference was organized by Energynomics, with the support of its partners: ACE Industrial Software, Romgaz, Schneider Electric.
