Schneider Electric announced the latest results of its Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) program and its financial results for the third quarter of 2024.
Recently recognized as the world’s most sustainable by TIME and Statista, the company has an SSI program that monitors and measures progress against a set of environmental, social and governance (ESG) transformation goals set for 2025. Tracking its performance in sustainability and by publishing quarterly results, Schneider Electric is keeping pace with the effort to achieve the 11 global and local ambitions and maintains its title as an industry leader in corporate social responsibility.
At the end of the quarter, Schneider Electric’s overall Sustainability Impact (SSI) score was 7.29 out of ten, with the company well positioned to reach its target of 7.40 by the end of the year, with two major milestones achieved: Schneider has surpassed its goal of providing 50 million people with access to green and reliable energy, more than a year ahead of its original target of 2025. This has been achieved through projects where its solar energy solutions Schneider Electric have been installed on public facilities in Africa and India. For example, in Kenya, Nigeria and India, new hybrid solar solutions have been added to clinics attended by approximately 2 million people, and in India, over 700 schools have been powered with clean energy, benefiting approximately 120,000 students. The company is now focused on scaling up these efforts so that by 2030, a cumulative 100 million people will have access to green electricity since the program began in 2009.
Schneider also passed a key milestone in its efforts to promote learning, training and development for all generations, having trained more than 763,000 people in energy management. For example, Schneider Electric and its foundation recently partnered with Enactus, enabling students in ten countries to develop entrepreneurial solutions that address social issues related to the energy transition.
In addition, Schneider has made considerable progress in halving the environmental impact of its leading suppliers through the Zero Carbon Project, generating a 36% reduction in operational CO2 emissions. This was facilitated by several renewable energy workshops held in the US, Europe and China, as well as over 20 specialized webinars aimed at supporting suppliers in their decarbonisation efforts.
