The Polish oil and gas company Serinus Energy, controlled by an investment fund owned by billionaire Sebastian Kulczyk, has discovered a new gas field in the Satu Mare perimeter, similar to the one previously identified in Moftinu. Serinus completed the drilling works at a new well, Sâncrai-1, located approximately 8 kilometers from the Moftinu project, reveals data analyzed by Profit.ro.
Sâncrai-1 is the fifth commercial natural gas well drilled by Serinus in the Satu Mare perimeter.
Serinus operates, through its subsidiary Serinus Energy Romania (formerly Winstar Satu Mare), the Satu Mare hydrocarbon perimeter, where it has identified recoverable reserves of approximately 510 million cubic meters of natural gas, the equivalent of about 4% of Romania’s annual consumption. The Polish company launched commercial production at Moftinu in April 2019.
Serinus signed the first contract with Vitol Gas, the largest independent energy trader in the world, in order to sell the gas extracted from Romania. The company also concluded an agreement with the operator of the national crude oil and condensate transport system, Conpet, for the transport to the Petrobrazi refinery of OMV Petrom of the condensate extracted together with the natural gas from Moftinu.
