Siemens Energy has started several projects to modernize Moldova’s energy infrastructure. Initially planned for 14 stations, the project has expanded to 35 stations, representing an important step in increasing the resilience of the power system and modernizing the Moldelectrica network, said Petru Rușeț, managing director of the company.
“The colleagues from Siemens completed it very hard, but I think it is a first step in increasing the resilience of the system and in making some very serious and well-done modernizations at Moldelectrica,” said Rușeț, at the conference Regional Approach: Chisinau 2024, organised by Energynomics.
Siemens Energy has another project underway to build four additional transformer stations. A particularly important project is the 400 kW grid in Chisinau, a first for the country. Work is scheduled to start as soon as possible. In October 2020, Siemens Energy inaugurated a regional service center, the second-largest in Europe, where 1,200 employees now work, with 1,100 of them hired in just two years. The company aims to reach 2,000 employees.
“Romanian students and graduates have above-average capacity. It’s all about giving them attractive projects and investing. At the beginning we had 200 people,” said Rușeț.
He also highlighted the trend of investment from Western Europe towards more attractive markets, adding that a market becomes attractive to investors when it has access to gas and electricity.
