The Slovenian government has decided to set the price of petrol and diesel at 1.503 and 1.541 euros per liter, respectively, according to Economy Minister Zdravko Pocivalsek, EFE reports.

The move comes amid rising fuel prices in recent weeks, with prices hitting record highs.

In order to limit them, the government took as a basis the lowest price charged by the country’s gas stations on Monday and reduced it by 6 eurocents for petrol and 13 eurocents for diesel, respectively, according to Agerpres.

“The aim is to calm the situation on the car fuel market,” the Economy minister was quoted as saying by the local STA news agency.

On the other hand, he assured the market that there will be no shortages of fuel and that the Executive has provided sufficient quantities for consumers.
