Solar energy production up 60% in the first eight months

Energy production in solar power plants was 2.57 billion kWh, in the first eight months of this year, up 60.5% compared to the same period last year, according to data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics.

Figures related to solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations also include prosumers, according to Agerpres.

On the other hand, the production from wind power plants was 4.10 billion kWh, down 16.9% (835.9 million kWh) compared to the period January – August 2023.

The production from hydropower plants was 10.59 billion kWh, down by 24.7% (3.48 billion kWh), and that from nuclear power plants was 7 billion kWh, down by 4.2% (308 .1 million kWh).

Production from thermal power plants was 11.37 billion kWh, increasing by 1.1% (127.8 million kWh).

In the first eight months of the year, domestic energy production amounted to 11.33 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), down by 644,700 toe (-5.4%) compared to the corresponding period last year, and the import was 10 .02 million toe, up by 85,200 toe (+0.9%).

Primary energy resources decreased by 2.6%, to 21.35 million toe and those of electricity decreased by 0.9%, to 43.99 billion kWh.

The final consumption of electricity in this period was 33.56 billion kWh, 1.4% higher than in the first eight months of 2023. The final consumption of electricity in the economy increased by 1.1%, the population consumption of increased by 2.9%, and public lighting decreased by 3.4%.

Own technological consumption in networks and stations was 3.26 billion kWh, down by 134.1 million kWh.

Electricity export was 7.17 billion kWh, down 9.2% (725.8 million kWh).
