Companies that invested in PV plants a decade ago are starting to see significant drops in production and are looking for solutions to slow the process. Often these solutions are “extremely simple”, says Elena Popescu, CEO of Elektra Renewable Support.

“For category B beneficiaries with capacities between 1 and 5 MW, initial efficiency optimisation was often neglected at the time of construction. However, simple and extremely handy solutions can now be implemented to make it more efficient and minimise production losses,” said Popescu, at the conference “2024: A defining year for the renewable energy sector in Romania”.

Production in PV plants is declining year on year, but this decline is also influenced by the variability of weather conditions.

In the case of one Elektra Renewable Support customer, over a ten-year period, the efficiency of solar panels dropped by 10% and other problems resulted in an additional 3% loss of production.

The solutions recommended by Elektra Renewable Support were panel cleaning and several other processes that had beneficial effects on production.

The conference “2024: A defining year for the renewable energy sector in Romania” was organized by Energynomics with the support of our partners: ADC, Alive Capital, CRC Energy, Elektra Renewable Support, EnergoPower, Ensys, Extro, Horváth, ING Bank, LONGi Solar, Monsson Operation, Nofar Energy, OX2 România, Photomate, PNE Romania, Polytrade Global, REI Grup, Renomia, Sph3ra Management Solutions, Transelectrica, WALDEVAR Energy, Wiren Romania. On this occasion, Energynomics launched its first report under the initiative “Monitor of the Romanian Photovoltaic Projects”.
