Chinese company SolaX Power, which produces inverters, battery energy storage systems and chargers for electric cars, is considering building a factory in Romania, said Robert Kenderessy, Regional Sales Manager Balkans Area at SolaX Power.
“The inverter factory in China plans to open a production facility in Europe, and Romania is one of the locations being considered,” he said.
The Chinese company is present in 80 countries and has been active in Romania for five years. According to Kenderessy, the company has grown organically on the local market and demand “has started to come by itself”.
Initially, the company entered the market with offerings and services in the healthcare sector, and now holds 80% of the green home market in some of the markets where it is present.
“On the solar panel side, we are starting to really take root this year. On the residential side, our inverters have solved the most important grid-related problem, which is the three-phase imbalance,” Kenderessy added.
The company has a certification center in Bucharest, and Romania is in a clear process of increasing investments in renewable energy, especially as it needs to install 2 GW of photovoltaic energy per year over the next three years.
According to Kenderessy, Romania “is a bit behind schedule” and needs to install 8.7 GW by 2027-2028.
“Compared to other countries that have stopped installing because they have reached their targets, Romania has the highest growth in the EU at 115%, followed by Bulgaria. Given the challenges facing the distribution grid, the only viable solution is storage,” he added.
