Some companies choose to cut back on cybersecurity spending when they start new investments and have budget constraints, said Lucian Enaru, CEO of Schneider Romania, during the DigitALL 2023 conference, organized by Energynomics.
“Digitisation brings great benefits and opportunities as well as duties, and ensuring cyber security is not only necessary but also painful. (…) You’ll be surprised that new investments, which are underway, are being evaluated from a budget perspective and technically decalibrated because they have to integrate into an existing system and then it’s a choice not to digitise or not to create a modern and intelligent system,” he said.
He added that, in general, customers want effective cyber solutions at prices they can afford, and that the quality of the equipment and tools they use, as well as cybersecurity certifications, which are “among the toughest in the world,” must be considered for any such solution.
The big problem in Romania today is competitiveness. In order to be competitive on the European or global market, companies need to keep up with all developments in the IT and digitalisation sector.
However, even in this context, some companies have the option to put aside modern digital solutions and choose to “shield” themselves from cyber attacks by minimising exposure to interconnectivity and digitalisation.
