The average price of electricity traded on the OPCOM platform dedicated to the Next Day Market (PZU) in the first quarter of this year increased over the same refference period last year with almost 12%, from 144.62 lei / MWh to 161.7 lei / MWh, said the energy exchange, taken by Bursa.

Last month (March) brought on this market an average price of 143.37 lei / MWh, with total transactions of 316.63 million lei (about 71 million Euro) mentions OPCOM.

“Overproduction of energy in our country found its outlet abroad. The demand for domestic energy is increasingly consistent, and this is normal to an increase in the price of the stock, even though domestic consumption remained almost constant,” said a supplier, quoted by the mentioned publication.

Exports increased by almost 40% in three months this year compared to the first quarter of 2014, positioning itself at about 1.7 million MWh. Transelectrica said that in 2014 the export of energy was 7.5 TWh per year, the highest level in the last decade, an increase of 350% compared to 2013.
