Energy is particularly important for the development of society, and the society we live in consumes energy in increasingly complex ways. This complexity will not diminish, but we can be sure that it will increase as a result of technological advances by wiping the boundaries between different industrial sectors and offering new opportunities to Eurelectric member companies, said Franceso Starace, Enel CEO, at the opening of the Eurelectric Power Summit 2019, according to investenergy.ro.

Starace highlighted: “We have discovered the incredibly important role of power distribution operators in energy transition with the help of digitization, which allows customers to become an active part of the energy system and brings benefits to both customers and other players in the field, for the development of a sustainable society. We are glad to have sensed these trends and bravely approached them instead of being afraid of the major changes in the short term. We are glad that the European Commission, the Council and the Parliament have listened to us and we have had very constructive discussions with these organizations to make Europe move forward. This is because the spirit of Eurelectric is to be in the service of society, that’s why it is a unique organization.”

For Starace, this is the last Power Summit as president of Eurelectric. The new President of the European Association elected to the General Assembly one day before the event is Magnus Hall, CEO of Vattenfall.
