Romania is still behind the European Union member states on storage, and the implementation of some projects can solve many problems, including in the area of prosumers, said Valeriu Steriu, member of the regulatory committee of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).
“We are still in the tail of the European Union member states on storage and the implementation of projects can solve many problems, including in the area of prosumers, where things seem to be evolving for the better. This year, a new tender for the installation, not only of panels by prosumers, but it will also take place on storage,” mentioned Valeriu Steriu, quoted by Agerpres.
At the same time, he referred to the interconnection, which also showed less pleasant things, on the balancing side and on the “shrug” side in the months of July-August, when there were “some incredible prices in the balancing area.”
The ANRE representative emphasized that solutions must be found in terms of interconnection, “in everything that means not only the south and south-east area where we are located, but also in the west.”
“In the council of ministers, solutions must be found to slightly modify this interconnection and the rules of the game which, at the moment, do not benefit us and we really end up having expensive energy at certain moments, which has a negative impact on everything what does economy and household consumption mean. Also on this side of flexible market mechanisms, we have some elements related to this support of CFD, we have projects and a law finalized on the side of offshore wind. We are the only country on the Black Sea that has managed to we are closing a law, let’s make an attractive law on the offshore wind side,” said Valeriu Steriu.
