Romania is a country of contrasts when we talk about digitalization, and at the moment I live in two Romanians: the blue pen one, with which I have to sign quite a few original documents, respectively the Romania of locally developed applications, which helps us all to have a life in which we can act faster and safer, said the president of the Concordia Employers’ Confederation, Steven van Groningen.

”The contrast is also seen in the DESI report – Index of the Digital Economy and Society, which is a European report, where we are pretty good when it comes to connectivity – in 5th place in Europe, as well as the number of IT graduates, 5.6 compared to the European average of 3.6. However, the situation is worse when it comes to access to public digital services, we are in last place in Europe. We need to ask ourselves why this is important, to have access to digital services when we talk about the public sector. It is extremely important not only in the COVID-created context, in which we need to avoid personal contacts. We are talking here about productivity,” van Groningen said, according to Agerpres.

President of Concordia pointed out that Romania suffers in terms of productivity in the absence of digitalization, because “hours are lost because we have to go to the counter to register goods, such as cars and houses, even if taxes can be paid online.”
