On March 27, 2024, the ceremony to start construction of a new Stihl battery factory took place, within Eurobusiness Parc 1 in Oradea. The new factory will house a battery manufacturing facility and marks an important milestone in the company’s growth strategy. The investment of 125 million euros is the largest within the industrial parks in Oradea, and Stihl intends to reach around 700 employees by 2028.
Stihl’s international production network thus increases to eight countries on four continents.
The factory will be built on a plot of 147,000 square meters, with the unit having almost 47,000 square meters. The start of series production is planned for September 2025. The Andreas Stihl Power Tools factory in Oradea will have around 700 employees by 2028.
“We currently manufacture battery products at our factories in Langkampfen – Austria, Virginia Beach – USA, as well as in China and Germany. This year we will also start producing battery-powered devices at our headquarters in Waiblingen, and from 2025 also in Oradea. This will significantly improve our competitiveness in the battery segment,” said Dr. Nikolas Stihl, president of the company’s Advisory Board and Supervisory Board, according to Transilvania Business.
During the planning and construction of the new factory, particular importance was given to sustainability and environmental protection. Once completed, the construction will be certified by the German Council for Sustainable Construction. Thus, photovoltaic systems will be installed, geothermal energy will be used for heating and cooling of the office building and the use of fossil gases will be avoided. The concept also provides for the selective use of green roofs.
