Romania has a huge opportunity to finance digitalization projects through PNRR, having at its disposal 1.9 billion euro, said on Wednesday, Tanczos Barna, the interim Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization.
“We have ambitious projects for the future and this is seen in this PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) which is approved by the European Commission. We have digitalization as a continuous development. It is the second priority in the European “NextGenerationEU” mechanism, after environmental policies. We have a huge opportunity to fund digitalization projects through PNRR and we have 1.9 billion euros at our disposal. The Romanian government adopted the public policy in the field of e-government in June. So, we have funds, we have resources, we have institutions that can implement these policies, we have ADR which is a solid institution that will continue to generate changes, development, new solutions in everything that means e-Government. From this moment, we only need consistency, perseverance and professionalism,” said Tanczos Barna, according to Agerpres.
He also mentioned that it is not surprising that people today have higher demands than 10-15 years ago, and “when we have something to solve, the first natural question is whether this can be done online.”
“Today, we all have much more technical skills and computer knowledge. We know much better what it means to be enrolled in an online system, how to make card payments from your own living room, what it means to get rid of queues and bureaucracy. The Ghişeul.ro platform, through its usefulness, has accustomed us to the possibility of living our lives in ways we dreamt of. In September, 170 central and local public authorities were enrolled in this system and thus millions of citizens were able to pay taxes with a single click, this is practically the future, it is no wonder that today we have higher demands, we have different expectations than 10-15 years ago. When we have issues to solve, the first thing we ask is if we can do it online. We see that more and more things can be solved in this way, and the contribution of ADR (Romanian Digitalization Authority) to these online systems is essential,” he added.
