The annual inflation rate fell to 2.7% in April this year, from 3% in March, even if food prices rose by 5.72%, services by 3.06%, and non-food goods by 0.53%, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Consumer prices in April 2020, compared to March, rose by 0.26%, and compared to December 2019 the advance was of 1.42%.
“Consumer prices in April 2020 compared to April 2019 increased by 2.7%. The annual rate calculated on the basis of the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) is of 2.3%. The average rate of consumer prices in the last 12 Monday (May 2019 – April 2020) compared to the previous 12 months (May 2018 – April 2019), calculated on the basis of the CPI, is of 3.6%. Determined on the basis of the HICP, the average rate is of 3.6%,” it is mentioned in the INS release, quoted by Agerpres.
The inflation forecast of the National Bank of Romania for this year is of 3%.
