The Romanian car market registered a contraction of 34.2% in the first seven months of the year, compared to the same period in 2019, according to data from the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA), published on Monday.
The “green” cars, respectively the electric ones (100% and plug-in hybrids), as well as the hybrid ones (which have electric propulsion without charging from external source) registered an increase of 3.6%, compared to the similar period last year. By subcategories, a significant increase (of 38.6%) was recorded for 100% electric cars, but also a much more consistent one, of 115.1%, was posted by plug-in hybrid cars, according to Agerpres.
On the other hand, hybrid cars with electric propulsion (not including the mild hybrid) show a negative evolution after the first seven months of 2020 (-11.5%).
In the car segment, in the first seven months of 2020, there was a general decrease of 34%, compared to the similar period of the previous year. The sales hierarchy is led by Dacia, with 18,950 units (-33.8% compared to 2019, market share of 30.7%).
Depending on the type of fuel of car purchases, between January and July, gasoline cars continue to have the largest share, respectively 65.6% of the total (down from last year’s share of 69.5% ).
