The Constanţa Tribunal rejected the request of a landowner in Tuzla, Constanţa, and the similar one of an NGO, the Dominocost Association, to cancel the town planning documentation issued by local authorities for the land-based project of the measurement-control station for natural gas to be extracted from the offshore Neptun Deep block by ExxonMobil and OMV Petrom. Also rejected was the request for moving the station site to a distance of at least 10 kilometers from the current one, according to profit.ro.
The decision is not final and can be appealed.
The station’s project, to be implemented by ExxonMobil, operator of the Neptun Deep concession, received an urbanism certificate from the Constanta County Council last January and a prior notice of opportunity to issue the area urban plan (PUZ) from the Tuzla Local Council in June 2018. The two institutions are co-defendants in the lawsuit, and ExxonMobil and OMV Petrom made requests for intervention in their own name.
