The process of energy performance certification of buildings is in full swing, and the first energy certifications are expected in 2025, said Manole Bălan, Deputy Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy, at the conference Regional Approach: Chisinau 2024, organised by Energynomics.
The country has an approved energy efficiency program dedicated to the residential sector, and as part of this program, the first 25 homeowners’ associations have already received energy audits.
These audits are the first step towards improving the energy performance of homes and reducing energy costs. Moldova has also implemented an energy efficiency program for public buildings. This program aims to reduce energy consumption and improve environmental conditions in public institutions.
Chisinau is also running a program to support start-ups in the energy sector, which is currently in the selection phase, and at national level, there is a program dedicated to the replacement of household appliances, with a budget of 400 million Moldovan lei over three years. This program aims to reduce household energy consumption by promoting the use of energy-efficient household appliances.
