Negotiations for the formation of the Government continued on Wednesday at the Palace of Parliament, between the PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and national minorities teams, according to political sources, a decision that was taken regarding the maximum number of 16 ministries in the new Executive. Also, the number of state secretaries will be greatly reduced. The discussions will continue, with the structure of the ministries and the responsibilities of each party in the executive to be established next week, News.ro reports.
According to the cited sources, the leaders of the pro-European parties established, in Wednesday’s discussions, that the new Executive will have a maximum of 16 ministries. In addition, the number of state secretaries will be considerably reduced, as part of the state reform.
It seems that the PSD will have 7 ministries, PNL – 4, USR – 3, UDMR – 2. There will be no deputy prime ministers.
The Ministry of Economy will merge with the Ministry of Energy, according to political sources.
Next week, negotiations will continue with the new coalition’s governing and reform program, and it will also be determined which ministries each party will have.
PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and the minorities announced, Tuesday evening, at the end of a discussion session, “the firm commitment to the formation of a pro-European majority in the Romanian Parliament, a pro-European government and the support of a possible common pro-European candidate in the presidential elections.”
