After the steep increase in May, the price of electricity sold on the day-ahead market (DAM, PZU) in Bucharest also increased massively in June, and exceeded the threshold of 100 euros/MWh, writes e-nergia.ro.
Thus, the weighted average market price for the next day (PZU) reported by OPCOM was, in June, 520 lei/MWh, according to the data of the market operator. Given that, in May, the same weighted average price was only 439 lei/MWh, we therefore have a sharp increase, of over 18%, in just one month. Or an increase of over 80 lei/MWh.
And in May we had a massive increase, of over 33% compared to the previous month, the weighted average price being in April only 329 lei/MWh.
So, in just two months – traditionally not the most problematic from the point of view of energy production – the weighted average PZU price in Romania increased by 58%.
The increases in May and June come after a period of decline recorded earlier in the year.
