The price of the Romanian energy declines, but remains the highest in the region

The price of the electricity on the spot market of the OPCOM stock exchange, with delivery on Monday, February 6th, fell below 100 euros per MWh, being higher in some time frames than in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia, countries with which Romania is connected, according to Agerpres, quoting data from the OPCOM website.

Thus, for the 9:00-10:00 interval, the maximum price on the spot market in Romania was of 450 lei per MWh (99.65 euros per MWh), while in Hungary the energy price stood at 97.96 lei MWh, while in Czech Republic and Slovakia, electricity costs 88 euros per MWh.

According to the OPCOM data, throughout the entire day of Monday, the price in Romania was either on the same level with the countries with which it is connected or higher. The record price on the Romanian spot market was registered on Wednesday, February 1st, when a MWh was traded with 680 lei, according to OPCOM data.

Moreover, Romania registered on the 15th and 23rd of January 2017, the highest energy prices in Europe, reaching 74.92 euros per MWh, respectively 96.52 euros per MWh, according to data of the electricity market operator from Romania.
