The average spot price of gas traded on the Romanian Commodity Exchange (BRM) fell below 300 lei/MWh for the first time in the last month and a half, after rising to over 500 lei/MWh on October 6, after Gazprom has doubled the capacity reserved for gas exports to Romania and promised to deliver higher quantities of gas to the EU, Profit.ro writes.
Thus, the average intraday price of gas traded on BRM fell on Tuesday to 298.8 lei/MWh, with over 200 lei below the maximum reached a month ago, of 499.55 lei/MWh. The last transaction on Tuesday was done at 290 lei/MWh.
On October 6, when the intraday price of 499.55 lei/MWh was registered, the average price for the day ahead (DAM) segment was of 601.8 lei/MWh, and the maximum was of 660 lei/MWh.
And on the most important regional stock exchange, the Austrian CEGH, the average spot price of gas fell to 66 euro/MWh, after reaching an average daily quotation of 115 euro/MWh and a maximum quotation of 150 euro at the beginning of October. Pressure on prices in Romania eased since the middle of last month, when Gazprom doubled its capacity at the interconnection point at Negru Voda (where Russian gas imported from the TurkStream pipeline enters), from 57.5 GWh/day (37% of the total) in October at 107.43 GWh/day (over 70% of total capacity) in November.
