Romania has forbidden the sale of the majority shares within the energy companies during the state of emergency, currently extended until the middle of May. Thus, according to the Military Ordinance 8, issued on Thursday, April 9, “during the state of emergency, the procedures for selling-buying majority shares of companies in the National Energy System, regardless of the form of their ownership, are suspended.”
The ordinance thus affects the sales processes of the CEZ and Enel packages, the only major companies now on sale. “The resumption of the procedures will be done after the conclusion of the state of emergency with the corresponding delay of the deadlines stipulated in the previous calendar,” is shown in the new OM8.
