Prime Minister-designate Ludovic Orban said that Transelectrica and Transgaz will move from the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Finance.
“We are thinking of combining the ministries of Economy and Energy. The Energy should be in the Ministry of Economy. And we also want to separate the energy transport from the producers. When we are appointed, we envisage the passing of a GEO through which to pass Transgaz and Transelectrica under the Ministry of Finance, most probably,” stated Orban, at the hearing of the proposed Finance Minister, Florin Cîțu, according to e-nergia.ro.
Initially, the proposal had been to move the two transmission system operators, administrators of gas and electricity networks, Transgaz and Transelectrica, to the new Ministry of Infrastructure, which will be created on the structure of the current Ministry of Transport.
If Romania keeps the production and transport of energy under the management of the same ministry, it risks entering a new infringement procedure.
