The first two and a half months of work on the 400 kV Cernavoda-Stâlpu double-circuit overhead power line (LEA) site meant 142 completed milestones and 45 poles built, with an average of 1.5 poles built per day, writes Transelectrica on page from Facebook.

The works at the 400 kV Cernavodă-Stâlpu OHL started in March 2020, with the completion deadline on March 2022. The investment of 287 million lei aims to consolidate the cross section between the west coast of the Black Sea (Eastern Romania) and the rest of the system. At the same time, it will contribute to the strengthening of the Romanian electricity transmission network, to the increase of the interconnection capacity between Romania and Bulgaria and to the integration of the wind energy in the Dobrogea area.

The assembly of a pole lasts on average a day or two, depending on its type. Works are done on the ground; the next day the pole is lifted and mounted on positions, Transelectrica also writes. The complete OHL will number 509 installed.

The 400 kV Cernavoda-Stâlpu OHL and connection in the Gura Ialomiței station is the first project of common interest carried out by Transelectrica, which received European funding of 27 million euros under the European Connecting Europe Facility Mechanism. The project includes the overhead power line, the 400 kV Stâlpu substation, the extension of the 400 kV Cernavoda substation and the extension of the 400 kV Gura Ialomiței substation.
