Transelectrica announces that it has received the works for the refurbishment and extension of the 400 kV Medgidia Sud substation, in GIS (Gas Insulated Substation) technology, an investment of over 58 million lei. According to the company, through the process of refurbishment of the station, advanced technologies were implemented on primary and secondary equipment (command-control, protection and automation system).

The 400 kV Medgidia Sud station contributes to the safe evacuation of the power produced in the Cernavodă NPP, as well as the electricity produced in the wind power plants in the Dobrogea area and will become the interconnection station of the National Electricity System (SEN) with the Bulgarian Energy System.
