By 2030, the Romanian electricity transmission network will be able to integrate new electricity production capacities of up to 11,500 MW, Transelectrica announces. The national transmission system operator shall provide data on the capacity of the transmission network to connect new production units, on the different regions of the country.

Starting today, December 15, 2021, this information is accessible on the website www.transelectrica.ro in the format of an interactive map, covering the year 2021, as well as the forecasts of 2025 and 2030, related to the evolutions of energy transport infrastructure development and consolidation projects. The data are presented for 10 regions of the country, with reference to the existing connection requests, which are in various stages of processing, and will be constantly updated.

According to calculations made by Transelectrica, currently, the electricity transmission network can additionally integrate a production capacity of 8,900 MW. In 2025, it will increase to 10,530 MW, and in 2030 we will have an available capacity of 11,500 MW. Thus, by 2030, by implementing the ongoing investments, there will be an increase by 2,600 MW of the current connection capacity to the network.

The transparency approach initiated by Transelectrica meets the application of the provisions of the draft order of ANRE regarding the publication of data on the capacity of installation and connection to the network of electricity generation units.
