Romania will have over the next 6 years a functional terminal for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the Black Sea coast, according to the new Development Plan of the national natural gas transmission system (SNT), for the period 2020-2029, developed by the system operator, the state company Transgaz, according to Profit.ro.

According to the cited document, among the new investment projects envisaged by Transgaz for the mentioned period is “Interconnection of SNT to LNG Terminal located on the Black Sea coast”.

Thus, the project is about the interconnection at the terminal of the transit pipes T1 and T2 Isaccea-Negru Vodă. As there is currently no such LNG terminal on the Romanian coast, it turns out that such a facility would also be built. Also, given that it is a question of taking over gas from an LNG terminal in the national pipeline system, the document shows the intention to build a regasification plant at the seaside, to take over the liquefied gas imported from specialized vessels and to prepare them for entry into the Transgaz pipelines.
