By putting the Tuzla-Podişor gas pipeline into operation, almost half a million household consumers and public institutions will be able to be supplied with natural gas, said Mircea Man, vice president of ANRE, on Monday, who participated at the invitation of Ion Sterian, General Director of the National Natural Gas Transport Company Transgaz SA, at the event marking the completion of the works on the pipeline that undercuts the Danube in the Borcea branch area.
According to Financialintelligence, Man stated: “The Tuzla-Podişor natural gas transmission pipeline, included in the Development Plan of the National Natural Gas Transmission System for the period 2024 – 2031, was approved at the meeting of the ANRE Regulatory Committee in December 2024, and with the commissioning of the entire gas pipeline, almost half a million household consumers and public institutions will be able to be supplied with natural gas.”
The Tuzla-Podişor natural gas transmission pipeline is part of the gas pipeline that will take over the natural gas extracted from the Black Sea, will connect with new sources of natural gas in the Trans-Balkan Corridor and the Vertical Corridor of which the BRUA pipeline is also part.
The underpass of the Danube River is one of the most demanding and complex underpasses in Europe from a technical point of view. With a length of 1,815 meters and a maximum depth of 63 meters, this work was a complex one due to the horizontal directional drilling, the geological complexity, but also the size of the equipment used.
The builders of the Tuzla – Podișor gas pipeline reached, on Monday, an extremely important stage, namely the launching of the pipeline under the Borcea Branch of the Danube. According to Ion Sterian, this is the most important under-crossing work, by length, by complexity, under an accumulation of water, a river, in the history of Europe.
