The unemployment rate in the third quarter of this year was of 5.2%, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous quarter, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics, released on Tuesday.
During the mentioned period, the unemployment rate for men was of 5.4%, and among women – of 5%, according to Agerpres. By age groups, the unemployment rate reached the highest level (19.2%) among young people (15-24 years old).
According to INS data, in the third quarter of 2020, the employment rate of the population aged 20-64 was of 71.2%, 1.2 percentage points above the national target of 70% set in the context of the Europe 2020 Strategy.
The employment rate of the working age population (15-64 years) was, in the third quarter of 2020, of 66%, increasing compared to the previous quarter by 0.8 percentage points. The employment rate was higher for men (74.9% compared to 56.9% for women) and for people in urban areas (67.4% compared to 64.4% in rural areas). The employment rate of young people (15-24 years old) was of 24.7%.
Also, in the third quarter of 2020, Romania’s active population was of 9.027 million people, of which 8.555 million people were employed and 472,000 unemployed.
