Romania is in a privileged moment, in which it is called upon to act decisively to strengthen its position of a stable supplier, in the European energy field. In a conference organized by the Society for Business Excellence (SBE), ASE and the Faculty of Business Administration in foreign languages (FABIZ), Valeriu Binig – partner of EY Romania – referred to two major objectives: the exploitation of natural gas from the Black Sea and gas pipelines linking the South Europe – Central Europe passage, via the BRUA interconnector.
At the “International Conference on Business Excellence in Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability”, held on Thursday in Bucharest, Valeriu Binig argued that Romania is destined to become a provider of resilient energy in the region, more than a simple primary energy exporter.
One of the aims of the country should introduce at Community level, of a system of adequate increase of the remuneration for solutions in the sustainable energy supply. For at least several decades, the European Union will remain dependent on imports and fossil resources, mainly natural gas, that will remain in the forefront.
In this context, Romania enjoys a “historic opportunity”, said Valeriu Binig, that should be valued by urgently calibrating the legislation for the oil and gas sector with the general and specific fiscal framework. “When we talk about natural gas, we must understand that we place ourselves in terms of use it or lose it,” said the EY expert, because the accelerated pace of technology development can cause, in just a few decades, the drastic reduction of the amount of hydrocarbon resources.
Also at the “International Conference on Business Excellence in Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability” presentations by Corina Popescu (Ministry of Energy), Iulian Iancu (Commission of Industries from the Chamber of Deputies), Ion Lungu (AFEER) and Radu Dudău (EPG) were held. At the conference more than 30 scientific papers were discussed in two sessions: Energy and Climate Change, Business Sustainability respectively.
