Moldovagaz is already receiving requests for cooperation from Romanian natural gas suppliers, but it is currently more convenient for gas to be procured from Russian giant Gazprom, said Moldovagaz Chairman of the Board Vadim Ceban, according to www.zdg.md.
The Moldovagaz official mentioned that the average price that the Republic of Moldova will pay for gas in 2020 will be about $30 lower than the forecasts, and estimates show that it could continue to fall.
Vadim Ceban said that the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline is an alternative for natural gas supply, “so that we do not depend only on the east.”
“Requests for cooperation are already received from some suppliers in Romania, we will operate according to European rules. First, we will see what the economic aspect is. We’ll see what the cost is, the routes. Today it is more convenient to buy from Gazprom, the price includes adjacent costs. If we talk about the alternative route, we will act according to the so-called entry-exit rules. We are going to reserve the capacity. If the supplier brings the gas to the border, we will calculate. Where the transport route is more convenient – and the price is more convenient,” he said, according to financialintelligence.ro.
Ceban announced that the contract with “Gazprom” has been extended, the price remaining the same, but “we want to renegotiate a new contract, for a period of three years, on more advantageous conditions”, respectively another tariff formation formula, which should it also involves the import of gas from the spot market.
