The completion of the BRUA pipeline is a great success, given that this gas pipeline is essential for Romania’s energy security, Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom, said the conference “Romanian International Gas Conference(RIGC)”, organized by the Energy Policy Group (EPG).
“BRUA is a great success of Transgaz, it is fundamental that the gas pipeline could be completed, fundamental for Romania’s energy security. We think first of all about exports, but also about imports, so that the market is supplied at the best level,” she said, according to Agerpres.
Phase I of the BRUA project has been completed, both the pipeline and the compression stations, which will lead to the diversification of Romania’s gas supply sources, announced on Monday, Dan Dragan, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Environment of Business, at the online event “The Romanian International Gas Conference”.
“The BRUA phase I project is completed, both the pipeline and the compression stations. BRUA will lead to the diversification of supply sources and the consolidation of energy security. It will also allow the flow of gas from the Black Sea platform,” the ministerial official said.
Phase I provides a two-way transport capacity of 1.5 billion cubic meters per year to or from Bulgaria and 4.4 billion cubic meters per year to or from Hungary.
The project was declared by the European Commission to be of strategic importance.
