Public authorities in Romania have launched 1,630 photovoltaic panel investment projects in the last year. Data analyzed by VICTA.ro, the only virtual assistant for selling at construction sites, recently showed that 807,704 photovoltaic panels are needed. The total value of these investments is estimated at 24.41 billion lei. The figures indicate a growing interest in solar energy and the implementation of green solutions at local level. Most photovoltaic projects of this type are launched in Bihor (90 projects), Cluj (79) and Constanța (71).

Projects included in the analysis were selected based on data available on VICTA.ro. The criteria used to determine the need for PV panels include the number of construction sites, their value, the estimated quantity of PV panels for each project, and the geographical distribution of projects requiring PV panels. These were determined by applying a filter on PV panel materials with dates from January 1 through August 1.

According to VICTA.ro, the main sources of funding for photovoltaic panel projects include European funds, local budgets and funding through government programs. Thus, 73% of the projects benefit from public funding (about 1197 out of 1630 projects), the rest being realized through partnerships or private funding.

As with similar research such as Monitor PV, estimating completion dates for these projects is difficult, as each project has its specificities. At the time of the analysis, the situation of the projects was as follows: 38% were in the construction and development phase, 56% in the pre-construction phases (authorization, design and pre-execution) and 6% were already completed.

According to VICTA.ro, both large companies specialized in renewable energy and construction as well as smaller local companies with experience in electrical installations are expected to participate in the tenders for photovoltaic projects. These companies are expected to have expertise in project management, ability to supply quality equipment and technical know-how for the implementation of PV solutions.

Avril Negrești Oaș (Satu Mare), Cornell’s Floor (Botoșani), Euras (Satu Mare), Milar Construct (Neamț), SMB Steel Project Partnership (București), Mariad Intercons (Olt), MIS Grup (Bistrița Năsăud), Conart Structuri (Mureș), Magnum Construct Proiect (Ilfov), Katar Conneg (Vaslui), Rom Liant Construct (Maramureș), Construcții Erbașu (București) are some of the companies monitored by VICTA.ro.

Some of the most popular brands specified by architects or known to be used on construction sites include Viessmann, BenQ, Ecovolt, Canadian Solar Westech.

Anticipated challenges in implementing these projects include: excessive bureaucracy in obtaining permits, lack of adequate feasibility studies, difficulties in finding qualified contractors, and resistance from local communities or landowners. Fluctuations in the price of the necessary materials and equipment can also affect initial project budgets.

How VICTA.ro helps

Those interested in business opportunities can start by subscribing to VICTA.ro. This will give them daily access to hundreds of projects and thousands of technical documents. The VICTA.ro team monitors hundreds of projects every day and maintains the largest database of construction sites in Romania.

Based on customized filters, users can pinpoint the exact projects of interest from tens of thousands of construction sites updated monthly. They can “virtually” visit the sites to see the current status without wasting hours in traffic, with the help of on-site photos. For projects in the planning phase, there are renderings of sites where work has not yet started.
