National gas producer Romgaz announced the renewal of the mandate contract of the General Manager Virgil Metea, for a period of four years, a report sent to Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) said. At the same time, Gheorghe Gheorghe-Gabriel was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors (CA) of the company.

“The Board of Directors of S.N.G.N. Romgaz S.A., on the meeting in June 7th 2017, chose Gheorghe Gbriel as Chairman of the Board of Directors. At the same meeting, the Board of Directors approved the renewal of the mandate contract of the General Manager, Virgil Marius Metea, for a period of four years”, the report said.

Virgil Metea has been, since June 2013, CEO at Romgaz, the largest gas producer in Romania. He was previously general manager of E.ON Gas Distribuție. Virgil Metea graduated from the Institute of Oil and Gas Ploiești and started to work in natural gas business in 1985. În 2002 he was promoted in Distrigaz Nord leadership, initially as Development Director and then as general manager. After its privatization in 2005 to E.ON, Virgil Metea remained in the lead until he took over the management of Romgaz.

According to his CV, Gheorghe Gheorghe-Gabriel was Inspector of the Financial Guard, director of the control body of the Ministry of Economy, head of the Anti-Fraud Department of the Ministry of Economy and vice-president with the rank of Undersecretary of State at the National Gambling Office.

The Board of Directors of Romgaz also includes: Tcaciuc Sebastian Gabriel, Jansen Petrus Antonius Maria, Buzatu Florin Dănuţ, Stan Bogdan – Nicolae, Chirila Alexandru and Metea Marius.
