“We are in an economic crisis, but we are in a crisis that is superimposed on a health crisis. I would not say that a huge crisis is coming, it is an economic crisis superimposed on the health crisis,” the energy minister said in a conference on Friday.
He said small and medium-sized enterprises will continue to receive support. “You have seen the first step we have taken towards small and medium-sized enterprises, with local capital, with that billion euros that we want to introduce into the economy by December 31. We are currently working on strategic directions and we are in very clear negotiations with the European Commission for the National Resilience Plan, we are practically talking about another 30 billion euros (…) and we are fighting at the European Commission and I think we will get its agreement (…) as from this plan resilience to finance a special chapter for small and medium enterprises,” explained the Minister of Economy, according to Agerpres.
The official also stated that he encourages Romanian entrepreneurs to develop their businesses, even outside the country’s borders.
“We encourage foreign investment in Romania, but on the other hand (…) I encourage Romanian companies that want to go and invest abroad, in turn, because, why not, we can and will be able to do this supporting companies that want to go and invest elsewhere,” Virgil Popescu added.
