Strengthening bilateral relations between Romania and Israel, especially in the field of energy, is an important goal to be achieved, said the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu.
“These days together with Cosmin Ghiță – CEO of SNN, Bogdan Badea – CEO of Hidroelectrica, Aristotel Jude – CEO of Romgaz and Răzvan Popescu, CFO Romgaz we are paying a working visit to Israel. We aim for cooperation on a broad level in the energy sector: gas, electricity, RES and other technologies. This morning we had a very good dialogue with the representatives of NewMed Energy, a Delek group company, which exploits the largest offshore gas field in Israel. We told them that we were interested in diversifying our supply sources and that we could import LNG from Israel via Egypt. We must seize all the opportunities to strengthen Romania’s energy security,” Popescu said, according to financialintelligence.ro.
”Israel Electric Company is the largest energy company that produces, transports and distributes electricity in Israel. During today’s working meeting we discussed about collaboration projects and about its involvement in energy investment projects in Romania,” Popescu also said, according to the Facebook information consulted by Energynomics.
