WALDEVAR Energy is in negotiations for projects stretching from Scandinavia to Tunisia, and such opportunities also exist in the Republic of Moldova, said Christian Leonte, the company’s Business Development Director.

“I see only opportunities in Moldova. The recipe for rapid development is action. All problems can be solved along the way,” he said at the conference Regional Approach: Chisinau 2024, organised by Energynomics.

Waldevar Energy has 270 MW of photovoltaic power generation projects under construction and the company’s annual solar unit construction capacity has reached 800 MW. The company has increased its workforce to over 600 employees, of which 20% are expatriates. It will commission 267 MW of projects this year, with a further 600 MW to be delivered in 2025.

At the same time, from March last year to date, the company has completed the design for 67 MW solar installations and a high-voltage station and is looking forward to delivering integrated solutions in this sector.

Leonte underlined the potential of the Republic of Moldova, highlighting the country’s opportunity to start a new stage of development of the energy sector including all the advantages of technological efficiency. However, he noted that communication is often “tribal” and evoked the need for greater predictability in the development process.

“The country has great potential. We have the chance to start a new chapter, benefiting from all the advantages brought by efficiency and technological innovation,” he added.
